Finance, Hospitality and Human Resources

Hello everyone, We all saw a burst of jobs on boards after the first of the year, but no one knows if that will be sustained. And we don't even know if those posted jobs are for real. Sometimes, it's good to seek out a niche job site that is particular to your industry.

For finance and accounting professionals www.fins.com has what they call "jobs from companies who are hiring NOW!" We can only hope it's true. You may upload a resume, research sectors, and search jobs by sectors or location. As you would expect, this is a very professional looking site, and the page contains the latest updates from the WSJ. Currently, they also provide a good discussion on negotiating salary, benefits and severance.

Anyone in the hospitality industry should take a look at www.HCareers.com. This is another good website that allows you to identify and research industries. There is a salary center and you may sign upfor a newsletter to keep you informed. And get this--there is a phone number where job seekers can get help in case you have a problem with the website. How's that?

Go to www.HRJobBoard.com where you can search for a job and post your resume. This site also has a section of featured employers They have a Facebook account that you can join and you may also follow them on Twitter. Seems they are on top of things.

Good luck!

More startups

Sorry I didn't get this blog out on time. Busy, busy and jobs are picking up.
I had quite a few positive comments on my posting for business start-ups, and I found another website. It's www.ventureloop.com. There is a listing of employers, a job search and even better, a LinkedIn group that you can join. I found something wonderful there, and I hope you will, too.

Now when is a niche job board not a niche job board? When it's the Washington Post. The Post has an unbelievable job board, and I was impressed with their listings for jobs all over the country. It's a large board alternative to Monster or CareerBuilder.

If you like these postings, please sign up to follow this blog. Thank you.

Sales positions with more

I stumbled upon the site www.salesgravy.com. Ok, I was actually looking for a good job board for B2B sales professionals. Once you sign up for an account you can post a resume, then I recommend going to the "community" tab and setting up your profile. It's a combination of Facebook (you have a wall that others can write on) and like LinkedIn you can connect with others in your industry. There is a large collection of articles, blogs, vendors, "ask the coach", and a sales store that stocks audio learning, books and e-learning resources. A pretty loaded site!

Management Opportunities in Construction

I really like you a lot, because I am giving you information on some of my favorite job boards.

This one is a beauty. If you are an executive and wouldn't mind working in a construction-related industry, then give www.constructionexecutive.com a try. Remember, construction companies employ a range of people to run their businesses. Here's a sampling of job titles from the first page: Director Water/Wastewater, Chief Estimates Manager, Sr. Project Manager Architecture, VP of Construction and VP of Marketing. These are high-paying jobs across the country, and you can apply directly to the employers from this site. No cost.

If you are following me, thanks. If not, please sign up and spread the word.

Manufacturing and Logistics

We are still making things and shipping them!

www.logjobs.com has both full-time and contract positions. Enter a state and you can actually type in the name of a city, rather being confined to a list of places. A good deal of the jobs that come up may not be what you are looking for, but dig deep and discover many jobs that aren't on any of the big job boards. Join the community, read the blogs and look over the list of participating companies.

Another resource for logistics and manufacturing professionals is www.jobsinmanufacturing.com.
Whatever your sector (purchasing, warehousing, production planning or engineering) there is something for you. There is no need to register in order to view the jobs, and there is an impressive list of employers. When i tried searching by city, I kept getting errors. Then I moved to the right and used the list that starts with regions. Scan down to the states and you will get better results. There are a number of direct hire opportunities with good companies.

New beginnings

Everyone is talking about innovation. Everyone is talking about start-ups. Do you dream of getting a foot in the door early on and moving on up?

I stumbled upon this website www.startuphire.com and found several jobs for me that I had not seen anywhere else. These are jobs at venture-backed startups who are hiring, and the jobs range from account managers to IT specialists, quality, and sales positions. You can set up a job-search agent, and you can apply to a job directly from this site.

It ain't easy being green

The buzz on jobs continues to point to green industries. And as we venture into alternative energies, many occupations that were formerly tied to manufacturing will move into producing greener energies. After all, they need civil, electrical, mechanical and industrial engineers to design, set up and run these projects.

I would recommend visiting http://www.greenenergyohio.org/ for information on the latest green activities, information on all alternative energies (solar, wind, hydro, biomass etc), networking events, workshops, and additional links.

At the left sidebar, there is a link for "green jobs," where you can search job boards for national careers in the environment. Don't forget, environmental companies need finance directors, secretaries, project managers, and business development leaders, too. One of my favorite sites is http://www.ejobs.org/. If you search by state, you will return a comprehensive list of all e-companies doing business in that state. Each company name is a direct link to their website where you can research the company and search for jobs. The ejob website takes the guessing out of finding environmental firms--they are all there.
